About Sasquatch at Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions
Sasquatch: Sasquatch are a cross of Great Pyrenees with Alaskan Malamutes, Siberian Huskies, or in rare instances, artic or timber wolves. The length of these dogs is slightly longer than Great Pyrenees. Their heads are wedge-shaped with a slightly rounded crown and are in proportion to the rest of their bodies. The backs are level. Their muzzles are about the same length as their back skulls. Their skulls are as wide as they are tall with flat cheeks. The nose and lips are black. Their teeth meet in a scissors or level bite. Their dark brown, large sized eyes are almond shaped and slanted. Their V-shaped ears are carried low, flat and close to the head, rounded at the tips, set about eye level. Their chests are fairly broad. Their well feathered tails reach their hocks and can be carried low, or up over their backs in a curl when Great Pyrenees are excited. There is sometimes a crook at the end of their tails. Sasquatch have a weather-resistant double coat. Their undercoats are dense, fine and wooly, and their outer coats are long, thick, coarse and flat. There can be a mane around their shoulders and neck which is more apparent in male Sasquatch. There is feathering on the tail and along the back of their strong legs. Their coats can be solid gold, solid white or white with patches of tan, gray, reddish-brown or deep gold.
Sasquatch are extraordinarily loving and affectionate dogs, completely devoted to their families. Perhaps the cross breeding has brought out the very best qualities in these dogs as they are happy-go-lucky and love to play with all animals. They are even happy to play by themselves. Sasquatch are calm, well-mannered, and very loyal and obedient. Sasquatch are wonderfully gentle and affectionate with those they love. Devoted to family even if self-sacrifice is required, Sasquatch make terrific family pets and are terrific with children. Sasquatch have an independent nature, so be patient when training your Sasquatch. Sasquatch are good with non-canine animals, and usually love cats. Sasquatch grow upwards until two years of age and fill out from two to four years of age. They don't reach maturity until they are about 4 years old. Some are not always good off the leash and may wander away.
Sasquatch originated in the wilds of British Columbia and little is known about them. The AKC does not yet recognize Sasquatch.
